I highly recommend Alpha Trenchless. I got five estimates to have my sewer lateral replaced. I researched and asked lots of questions, which Alpha (Esperanza) promptly answered. Some companies insisted they would have to do four excavations, including in my driveway. But Alpha Trenchless did just two, one at the house and one at the street. Their estimate was written with clear language. They coordinated with all utility companies and scheduled all inspections. During the job, they attended to every detail and left my property exactly how it was before they'd arrived. Plus, everyone was extremely nice.
One factor that I didn't fully appreciate was the unpredictable costs to patch the street. It turns out that the city public works department determines this cost, which can't be determined until the end of the job. In my case, it was pricy.
That being said, the final costs from Alpha Trenchless were still the lowest of my five estimates. Of Note: Three different Novato inspectors told me that they do great work, so I'm confident that the final product is high quality.
Lateral Grant and Loan Programs
Some Sanitary Districts offer a Homeowner's Lateral Grant and Loan Program. These programs are designed to help property owners in these Sanitary Districts with the cost of fixing their leaky and damaged private sewer laterals.
If you have a sewer backup into your house, it may be due to tree roots or other obstructions blocking the lateral pipeline that goes from your property to the street.
Although homeowners are responsible for repairing their sewer lateral on their property, some Sanitary Districts have a financial assistance program that can reimburse or help with some of the costs to replace your sewer lateral. For more information on these programs please refer to the the links below to see if your Sanitary District offers this program.
